Windows Live Writer which was part of Windows Live essential reached end of support on Jan 10 2017. This offline blog software was earlier open-sourced by a group of volunteers inside Microsoft in Dec 2015. This fork is now called as Open Live Writer and can be downloaded from https://openlivewriter.com/

Open Live Writer is a powerful, lightweight blog editor that allows you to create blog posts, add photos and videos then publish to your website.
You can also compose blogs posts offline and then publish on your comfort. Open Live Writer is provided under a MIT license and is available in GitHub.

Supports: WordPress, Blogger, TypePad, Movable Type, DasBlog, and others.
