Outbound marketing is a traditional form of marketing in which a company initiates contact with potential customers, or leads. Examples of outbound marketing methods include cold-calling, cold-emailing/spamming, direct mail, billboards, event sponsorships, tradeshow presentations, advertising through TV, radio, print and online or through in-person contact. After leads are generated using these methods, it has typically been the responsibility of a company's sales representatives to follow up and develop business relationships with those customers

This type of marketing is if done properly very effective in spreading awareness of the brand and the products. Introduction of the brand and its place in the minds of the customers is determined by how outbound marketing is performed by the company to attract them.

Outbound Marketing is more flexible than the alternative as it deals with short term issues facing the company, It is quite easy to change methods that aren’t showing results and isn’t too reliant on trial and error which is absolutely necessary in case of inbound marketing.

 Types of Outbound Marketing

 Traditional Advertising

Traditional advertising includes media such as television, radio, print (newspapers, magazines, etc.), and billboards. Traditional advertising methods help you convey the message to the masses but lack refined targeting capabilities. ATL advertising avenues are effective for top-of-the-funnel activities such as brand awareness campaigns.

Cold Calling

Cold calling or telemarketing is known to be the most notorious form of communication. In cold calling, the salesperson makes calls to a database of people, who could be prospects, to gauge their interest and convert them into paying customers. The salesperson usually has no prior communication with the customer, hence the term cold calling. Alternatively, when a potential customer calls up to express interest in your offerings, it is known as warm calling.

Event marketing

Event marketing is a fantastic way to generate leads, create lasting relationships, and engage with current customers for upsell and cross-sell opportunities. Events often take the form of webinars, conferences, tradeshows, or seminars and offer your company a chance to meet your leads face-to-face and form a lasting impression. This helps you cement relationships when your lead is ready to make a purchase decision.
